The Restoration

1. The Glorious revolution took place in 1688. it was the overthrow of King James II of England. The people disliked King James because of his Catholic religion. He began to try and force the Catholic belief in all the churches. When he fathered a son, people worried their would be a Catholic dynasty in the kingdoms of England, Scotland, and Ireland. That began the Glorious Revolution. The only way to overthrow a king was to behead them. This revolution, is also called the bloodless revolution. The people where able to scare the King enough to run him off instead of having to behead him.

The people feared having a Catholic king. The people also feared that since he had a son, they would continue to be ruled by a Catholic king. People were frightened because of their past experience with "bloody Mary" and thought that all Catholic rulers would go out killing Protestants. It was imprtant to get rid of the king so that they would not have to go through that situation again. Since then, they have not had another Catholic king.

2. Satire is a form of writing, and it often uses some one's disadvantages and turns them comical. Sarcasm, parody, irony, exaggeration, etc. are commonly used in satire writing. The sitcom Reba is a form of satire. The sitcom shows different life issues that people go through all the time, but they make it a joke in a way. By making little jokes whether the situation huge and serious or whether its minor.

3. In A Modest proposal, the author is suggesting a solution to all the homeless, starving, Irish kids. He states how these kids walk around with their parent(s) and beg for food. So, instead of leaving them to starve, why not just buy them from their parent(s) and fatten them up, then eat them. he states that, "...a young healthy child well nursed is at a year old a most delicious, nourishing, and wholesome food, whether stewed, roasted, baked, or boiled;" This is a very satirical form of writing. The author is using a huge amount or sarcasm to address this issue. He carries on about the issue as if it is a joke, as if that hoenstly how he expects people to really handle the situation. He is trying to make the English realize and open their eyes to how poorly they treated the Irish.

4. From a Journal of the Plague Year, its about the recurrence of the plague and describes different things that went on, and it goes into describing how people reacted to it. Some just kept to themselves and died, while others started to act manically. They would kill themselves, or others, "...throwing themselves out at their windows, shooting themselves, etc.; mothers murdering their own children in their lunacy,..." It also talks about a certain citizen, who comes to stay the night at the Pied Bull Inn. The area was free of the infection and he swore not to be infected. However, the text states that, "Upon which, not the maid, but some other person was sent up to see after him, who, coming into the room, found him stark dead and almost cold, stretched out across the bed." After that the infection began to spread their, "...bringing the infection to the house, spread it immediately to other houses round about it..." It goes into detail in a few different cases of the infected. Until finally coming to an end of the plague.

5. I believe that it was important for people to start again fresh with a new begining during this time. They went through a lot. I mean overthrowing a king and dealigng with the recurrence of the plague, It was definitely time time for them to better themselves. They wanted to come into a more realistic time, which is why diaries and journals became popular. Like from a journal of the plague year. It's a journal that documents what happened during the plague.

Mentor 1 hour 15 Minutes

February 9, 2009 3:45 - 5:00

I went to the OB-GYN office today and signed-in to the front desk, then proceeded to wait until my name was called to go back.

Fran called my name about five minutes later and ran the same four test as always. (blood, urine, blood pressure, and weight). She told me to wait on the bench until a room became available. I waited for about five to ten minutes and finally got called back to a room. I was escorted by Sheryl and she came into the room to talk to me before Dr. Cline came in. She asked me had the medicines that they proscribed helped any and was I having any side effects. I told her that the steroid they gave me did absolutely nothing, and that the recent prescription was only making me sleep but was not helping with the itching and burning. She told me to tell everything I had just told her to Dr. Cline and she would look further into it.

So Sheryl walked out of the room, and about five or some minutes later Dr. Cline walked in and checked to see if I was dilated anymore. Surprisingly she said that I was dilated three centimeters and that she didn't feel I had much longer. That definitely wasn't the end of what she had to say though. After the examination she asked about the rash (PAPS) and if it was getting better or worse. I told her that none of the prescriptions she gave me helped. That the first one didn't do anything at all, and the second one just knocked me out. After explaining to Dr. Cline about the medicines, I asked her if the medicines would have an effect on me producing my breast milk or if it could cause something wrong with my milk. She said that she didn't believe so and that everything would be okay regarding that. She said that she was concerned about it not getting better and that if I was willing to she would induce me.

I was definitely willing to be induced and was willing to do whatever she needed me to. She explained to me that I would have to go and visit a Dr. Rosemund and at his office he would perform an amniocentesis. I asked her what in the heck that was and she said that is was where the doctor would stick a needle through your belly button and into the sack to get some amniotic fluid so that they can test to see if the baby's lungs are developed enough to induce.

I then asked Dr. Cline if this will affect my baby and if so what will it do. she said that the only risk is that the procedure could possibly cause my water to break and that then I would just go into labor. Which wasn't all that bad because they are wanting to induce anyways.

When arriving at the OB-GYN office to see Ms. Barbara I signed in to the front desk and waited in the lobby until I was called back.

Barb came about five minutes later and called me back for my ultrasound. When getting back into the room she proceeded to tell me to lay on my back and lift up my shirt so that she could use the probe on my abdomen. She put a petroleum jelly on my stomach so that the probe slide easily across my abdomen.

We sat in silence for about five or six minutes while she started doing measurements. She then started saying that the baby was definitely a girl, and that she right where she needed to be in her measurements. Barbara said that the baby was about 5 1/2 pounds and that was pretty normal for babies around the 8 month. She also said that my stomach was rather tight and asked Dr. Van Herran to check to see if I was going into labor.

Dr. Van Herran came into the room with another nurse assistant and then checked to see if I was in active labor. He said that I wasn't and that what he thought it was was just barackton hicks contractions. I asked was there any way to tell barackton hicks from real labor contractions. He told me that baracktons will normally stop once you drink something and aren't constant. With labor contractions they come a lot harder and can be timed. That real labor contractions aren't iiregular and most women can definitely tell a difference in the two.

Shakespeare - Othello Act 3.

Iago is definitely a sneaky one. He has everyone believing every little thing that comes out of his mouth. Othello is starting see Cassio around Desdemona a lot, and starting to think something is going on more and more. When really there is nothing at all. Iago is so manipulative and he has been able to persuade Othello into thinking that Desdemona is cheating with Cassio without even telling him. When Othello became more sure of himself, Iago would try to somehow persuade him otherwise.

The entire play reminds me of high school drama. The couple that is completely happy together, then you have the single folks who are hating because they have nothing else better to do. Lies fly left and right, back and forth between buddies about the girl. Of course the guy believes his friends, because shoot they are his friends and why would they lie. Then by the time he find s out the truth its at the point where the relationship is trashed and there is no way to mend it.

The play is like life now. People are going through this type of situation day in and day out. Listening to he say she say and buying into it. Not trusting their heart and knowing who is really down for them. Not taking it upon themselves to find out the truth by asking, instead they decide to make the situation worse than it is and going around sneaking trying to find out information.

When arriving at the OB-GYN office to see Dr. Cline I walked in and went directly to the sign-in desk and then waited until I was called back. During the 7 minute wait in the lobby I was asked the same question ask always had my insurance changed and i replied no. The nurse assistant KeKe called me back. She ran the same four test as always, blood pressure, blood, urine, and weight. After she collected all her data she asked me to wait on the bench until a room became available.

About five minutes later they came and took me to a vacant room. I proceeded to wait about another five minutes until Dr. Cline entered the room. She asked how things had been going, and then gave me the results of the test that were previously given to me when I arrived.

When Dr. Cline pulled up my shirt to give me the heart monitor she noticed the rash that had formed from the top of my belly button to where my hip bones are. I asked Dr. Cline what was the rash and was there anything that I could do to help prevent it from getting worse. She informed us that the rash was known as the Pregnancy Rash or PAPS. It is normally bought on by stress and clears up normally right after giving birth. She then told me some methods that might help relieve the symptoms. Using Hydrocortisone cream, benadryl, and suggested taking an oatmel bath. All of which should help take care of the itching and burning.

Dr. Cline then wanted to check and see if everything was normal and checked to see if I was dilated any. After she checked she was happy to say I was dilated two centimeters and sixty percent effaced. I asked her what exactly did sixty percent effaced mean, and then she said it just meant that my cervics was thinning out.

After the everything she asked me did i have any further questions. I went on to ask her why I was having problems with my legs. Getting in and out of the bed, and more with why my legs would just give out at times. She said it was possiblely because the baby was already turned head down and se might have been laying on a nerve, which can cause a lot of pain and could even cause my legs to give out.

After that she gave me my appointment slip and told me to check up at the front desk and that was it. =]

Shakespeare - Othello Act 2.

While reading act2 in Othello it reminds me a lot of my current love life. Although its somewhat reversed in my situation. Its the girl who is the conniving one. Iago has this evil plan to get Cassio out of the Lieutenant sit and make it seem as if Cassio and Desdemona have a love life in which Othello informed about.

Iago is very tricky and lies constantly to everyone around him. Demi is somewhat the same way. Always lying and making herself to be someone she is definitely NOT. Both thinking they can live numerous lives and backstab everyone. Jarius is Othello although he lacks some of his characteristics. Jarius is very overly trusting of everything that Demi says. Amber is Rodiego they both are dumb to every situation and believe everything that anyone says. Very gulliable. While last but not least I'm Desdemona the innocent victim in all this mess.

Games are being played but no one has quit figured it out. Iago has everyone so fooled and wrapped up that no one can honestly see whats going on right in front of them. Thats how life is sometimes. You can never figure out why things are going so completely wrong, when the problem is right under your nose.

Mentor 1 hour 30 minutes

December 26, 2009 8:30- 10:00

When arriving at the Athens OB-GYN office to see Dr. Ruth Cline I waited in the main waiting area for about 10 mintues. When being called back by Keasha she proceeded to get my weight gain, blood pressure, an urine sample, and take some blood.

After getting all of that taken care of I waited on a bench until a room became available, which took all of about 5 mintues and then continued waiting until Dr. Cline came to my room.

After hearing the knock on the door, Dr. Cline entered an asked me a bunch of questions and told me everything seemed to be normal and healthy. She asked if I had been sleeping well and if I had been able to eat any because I had lost some weight but that it was nothing to be concerned about.

I told her that sleeping was getting harder and harder because my mind had been racing and at this point I didn't think getting comfortable was an option. She laughed and told me that she didn't doubt sleep was easy to come by. She asked me what was I worried about and I began to spill out my worries and concerns, and she said that stress would send me into possibly an early labor and that I shouldn't be stressed out at all. I need to take it day by day and find a way to focus on the positive.

Mentor 1 hour 45 minutes

January 12, 2009 10:45-12:30

When arriving at Athens OB-GYN P.C to visit with Dr. Ruth Cline on a Monday morning I signed in at the front desk and had to fill out some forms because of my insurance. After filling out those papers I sat in the waiting room for about 10 minutes and waited for a nurse to come and get me.

My name was called by a nurse named Keasha and she took me back and got weight, blood pressure, an urine sample, and then took some blood. After receiving all that information I remained waiting on a bench until a room became available.

When I was finally called back to the room, I was told everything with my test came back normal except with hemoglobin, there was protein in my urine, and that I had dropped a good bit of weight since my prioir visit. The nurse left and I continued waiting on Dr. Cline to come in and give me following information.

About 5 mintues later Dr. Cline came into the room and asked me a bunch of questions dealing with my pregnancy. She was concerned with the amount of weight loss and told me that I would be put on a depression pill which could possibly help, but if it gave me weird side affects to give her a call and she would either prescribe something else or just take me off of it.

I then proceeded to ask her questions concerning with my pregnancy. Like why I was having so much pressure and was there anything that i needed to worry about because of my weight loss. She told me that the pressure was possibly coming from the baby, because she had already turned around and her head was extremely low but if the pressure got worse later on to call her and let her know. Dr. Cline also said that the weight issue should be taken care of when i started taking to anti-depressant pills but if it got worse then like before call her and let her know.

Because of the protein in my urine I was told to stay after leaving out of my room, because they wanted to get another sample and run test of it. Dr. Cline was concerned it might be some type of infection and just wanted to be on the safe side.

Shakespeare - Othello Act 1.

While reading Othello Act 1 there was definitely a bunch of backstabbing and establishing who is real and fake. Iago is apparently the guy who has a kind of conniving personality, he wants more than he deserves and is never going to accomplish anything because he is to concerned about what other people are getting and what he isn't. His plan to destroy Othello's good name with Roderigo really sets off how the rest of the play is going to end up.
Another part that stuck out a lot to me was how Branbantio (Desdemona's father) who loved and somewhat admired Othello for all his great deeds and accomplishments is wrong for how he reacted to the news about his daughter and Othello's marriage. Now, yes I do admit it was completely wrong for her to go behind her fathers back and get married without approval, but for Brabantio to have so much respect for Othello and then for him to say that he put a spell on Desdemona and was not worthy of her, was completely disrespectful.

Othello is a very strong and loyal person. From his personality he puts off like he prefers to settle problems out through peace while all the others are just ready to fight. When Brabantio came to him about his daughter he was ready to fight, and for the men that Brabantio brought with him to basically kill Othello. Othello thought that if he maned up to what was going on and took responsibilty that things would settle down and Brabantio would see where he was coming from.
